Almost Perfect by Julie Ortolon

Look what we found! A USA Today Bestselling Kindle Romance Novel for under $4!

Originally published in print by Signet Eclipse. Finalist in the RWA Rita Awards.

The Perfect Trilogy:

Maddy, Christine and Amy are thrilled that their old college suite-mate has written a bestselling book, How to Have the Perfect Life—until they realize she used them as examples of how women let fear screw up their lives. The worst part is…it’s sort of true. Together they make a pact: they each have one year to face down their fears—and maybe show Miss Perfect a thing or two!

Book One: Almost Perfect

A Free Spirit and a Reformed Bad Boy -- a Perfect Match?

Maddy was always the artistic one of the group, alive with color and mischief from her saucy red curls to her vintage hippie skirts. Her challenge, the friends decide, is to get her artwork accepted at a gallery. A job as arts director at a summer camp near Santa Fe—with its multitude of galleries—seems like a start in the right direction.

There’s just one catch: The camp is run by Maddy’s high school flame, Joe, whose heart she broke—okay, smashed—and his anger towards Maddy hasn’t cooled one bit. But neither has their attraction.

Old desires burn hotter than ever as Joe makes it clear there’s only one way back to his heart: She has to get serious about her art. But will falling in love help or hinder Maddy as she struggles to meet her challenge?

From Booklist:

Three longtime friends are dismayed to discover that a fourth friend, author of a self-help book, has used them as examples of how women let fear prevent them from achieving happiness. They make a pact to face their biggest fears, and Maddy takes the plunge. Her husband's cancer forced her to put her dream of becoming an artist on hold, but now that she is widowed, she accepts an invitation to be the arts-and-crafts director of a summer camp in New Mexico. The director is her old flame from high school who she dumped when he proposed. Joe has never forgiven her, but one look at her wild red hair and funky clothes, and he is smitten all over again. Maddy and Joe have sexy fun, but trying to achieve emotional intimacy is as easy as walking across a field of land mines. How do they get over their past and create a future? Find out in comedic romance writer Ortolon's funny and compelling story of two unforgettable characters. Maria Hatton

Caught in a deadlock, both denying their true feelings, events take a sinister turn as someone seeks to silence Eulogy…forever.

One reader's review:

Eulogy's Secret is a lovely romantic book which had me engrossed right from the start. The great description of old London and the dialogue between characters are a treat. It is evident that the author has done lots of research to get this just right and it provided me with an extra real interest amongst the excellent plot. The atmosphere is very well described by the author in phrases such as, "..before passing the malignant gray walls of the workhouse...".
The romance starts right away and I was immediately engaged with the characters and very satisfied with the ending, hoping to see Devlin in some way outwitted I was not disappointed.
There is steamy romance, fun, adventure, and danger in this well written book. Eulogy is a lovely character and so is Jack Huntley. You can't help but like him right at the start of the book with his amusing thoughts and then by the end of the book you are in love with him.
I really enjoyed this book and if you are looking for an historical romance that is amusing, entertaining, gripping, very romantic you cannot go wrong with this book.
I will be looking out for the next book in the series.
This has to have five stars it's delicious.

Well, let’s just say that she’s probably not going to like the alternative.

"It's The Lovely Bones meets Bridget Jones in this fluffy take on what happens after's a fun, witty traipse through the afterlife." Publisher's Weekly

"This book has a delightfully quirky concept that develops into a fun and interesting story. Peopled with a fascinating variety of characters, it also has an intriguing mystery and a charmingly different type of interaction between the hero and heroine. Expect a delightful tale with a wonderfully distinctive ending." 4 1/2 stars Romantic Times Bookclub TOP AUGUST PICK 2007

From Publishers Weekly

It's The Lovely Bones meets Bridget Jones in this fluffy take on what happens after death. Holly Evans, an airy 22-year-old recently deceased by supposed suicide, lingers in Heaven's "Level One, having to put up with all of the horrid rejects while people like her parents were up on Level Three probably wearing lovely white togas and bathing in chocolate." Luckily, her afterlife "spiritual realigner" (think: shrink) sends her back to Earth for two days to purge her soul, clear up the circumstances surrounded her alleged suicide and confess to her boyfriend Todd that she wants to marry him. The catch? Her vessel is Vince Murphy, a guy from the IT department. As the clock ticks, Vince and Holly psychically chat in Vince's head while ticking off the items on Holly's to-do list. The peachy conclusion isn't unexpected, but it's not quite expected either. It's a fun, witty traipse through the afterlife.

To Marian Keyes - and to the Marian Keyes in every woman - that smart, funny, sad, put-upon, brave part of your soul that makes this world a brighter place.

Dee DeTarsio's literary talents shine with tenderness and humor as she once again takes readers into the heart of women's lives in an unforgettable tale. Filled with friendship, love, loss, betrayal and out-of-this-world challenges that force her characters to find their place in the universe, Ros gives us the hopefully-ever-after we're all searching for.

When a plane crashed behind Micki Cramer's house, in San Diego, California, she kept waiting for the sirens and rescue team to show up. As the first responder, it was up to her to tug on the arm that was waving out of the broken wreckage. Holding her breath against the choking smoke, she managed to get the pilot out and carry him to safety into her backyard. He wasn't that heavy; he was about the size of her 10-year-old nephew, who did play a lot of video games and ate nothing but Flamin' Hot Cheetos, but still. As it turns out, he wasn't a guy after all.

Ros, the pilot, was on a mission to find her missing brother who had crash-landed at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Seems she was a bad driver, too, missing her target by nearly a thousand miles and more than half a century.

If Ros can teach Micki how to use eleven percent of her brain, how can Micki help Ros?

Josephine the Outlaw King by Jeanette Louise Kantzalis

Look what we found! A Kindle Romance Novel for under $1!

Josephine Lilliwhite, a middle-aged woman with a quiet demeanor and a curious past, happened upon love and motherhood late in life. In her early forties, she found herself starting over with a new love, a new home, and a second son on the way. It seemed she’d finally found herself a little bit of that light she’d only felt while watching the old movies she was so fond of.

And with that light came the dark.

Upon hearing about Josephine’s newfound joy, her jealous ex fills with an anger that can only be drained by her death. With a promise and a lie, he lures her to the edge of town. As he whispers, “Congratulations” into the forgiving ear of his former flame, he spits out a bullet from his unforgiving gun.

As Josephine lay there seeping into the dirty-sugar sand, she makes a promise to not empty out, to not end. She makes a perfect vow to her sons and to her love to begin. To rise. To ignite. To reign as the Outlaw King.

A true royal of the new and wildest west, Josephine finds her courage in the pulpy noir-ish underground of the southern California haunts she grew up around. She slithers and soaks into the shadows of the the biker bars, the betty brothels and the borrowed beds of the truly broken-hearted. There, she heals anonymously until she’s ready to take back the kingdom that is rightfully hers.

In Josephine’s world, the landscape is as much a character as the Saint, the Monster, Baby Dagger, Cortez the Killer, The Black Knight Beauties and the lovely Penny-brides.

In this rhythmic tale you’ll find them all careening down the 10 East in their Daddy duds and Kitten couture. You’ll feel them beating hard under the sultry streets of this invisible kingdom they call the Inland Empire. They’re all here and they’re waiting.

Waiting for you.

She can't forget him--He can't remember her
Together, they must discover the healing power of unforgettable love

The day Lieutenant Matthew Foster departed for his so-called 'tour' in Vietnam, he never expected a sudden change in his itinerary would include an extended stay in the horrific Hanoi Hilton. Six years later, he's finally released with the other POWs during Operation Homecoming. Unfortunately, his memories before his capture were erased by the complimentary torture provided by the hotel's concierge. Due to prior facial injuries and the beard concealing his gauntness, he looks nothing like the boyish photo in his military file.

When the Army informs Matt he has a wife and he was mistakenly declared dead, he's sure Abby must have made a new life for herself. He doubts the bitter man he's become can salvage the boy she once cared for, so to be fair to her, he decides to simply write a note to wish her well and leave. But before he does, he can't resist going to Redemption, PA, to catch a glimpse of the woman he'd loved enough to marry.

The irony of the small town's name is totally eclipsed by Matt's dread that he'll discover he's lost something truly worth remembering. That fear becomes reality when he learns Abby is engaged, and he's a daddy! Luckily, his wife doesn't recognize him, so Matt could still walk away from the beautiful stranger who's been starring in his X-rated dreams. However, he could never, ever abandon his sons.

The clock is ticking. Any day, the military will inform Abby he's alive, and her wedding is in only six weeks. It doesn't give Matt much time to discover if he can reclaim the love the war stole from him.

Marrying Miss Shylo by Sharon Ihle

Look what we found! A Kindle Romance for under $4!

Shylo McBride never thought her little fib about being related to the president would result in a proposal from Dimitri Adonis. He certainly was as stunningly handsome as his Greek god namesake, but Shylo had no real desire to marry—all she wanted was a ticket out west so she could find her mother.

Dimitri had his own less than noble motives for posing as a wealthy aristocrat and seducing an American debutante. While he and Shylo struggled with their tangled web of lies, they discovered that beneath their deceptions lay true love’s sweet embrace.

~  ~  ~

Abandoned by their mother as children, Shylo and her younger sister Cassie decide to run away from their life as orphans and head out in search of her. Knowing she is out west Shylo knows that money is needed to fund their search. What better way to obtain it than to associate with the upper class, so Shylo poses as the President's niece and Cassie as her maid. Meanwhile, Dimitri Adonis is also in need of funds to help keep his business alive and to search for his Uncle whom he believes embezzled funds and thus put the business in debt. What better way to obtain it than to marry a woman with money, and Dimitri has set his sights on the President's niece! One lie begets another, and one adventure leads to another as the group head west is search of their own private causes, neither one telling the other the whole truth. One interesting twist is when the train is held up and Cassie is kidnapped by a not-really-a-bad-guy sort of bandit whom she falls in love with and plans to meet in San Diego. When they finally arrive in San Diego, Shylo does indeed meet up with her mother, who happens to be married to Dimitri's uncle! As with all lies, they never stay secret for long, and once everyone's cards are on the table each pair seems to work out their differences, one way or the other! Not really written as a comedy, Ms. Ihle provides an entertaining romp through adventures propelled by one lie after another. She also provides wonderful secondary characters that follow the same pattern of lightheartedness.Witty, lighthearted entertainment from one little white lie to another! California Man by EC Sheedy

Too shy to love…

Quinn Ramsay is facing the biggest decision of his life, whether or not to sell his hugely successful sports conglomerate. His schedule has been insane for years, an endless series of trains, planes and automobiles. Even so he’s not so sure he wants to give it up. For what, he keeps asking himself. Where would he go from here? What would be his next step?

With those questions in mind, he heads to a friend’s house on Salt Spring, a small island in the Pacific Northwest that promises solitude and uninterrupted time to think and plan.

Not in his plan is meeting Emily Welland, the shy owner of the local bookstore. She intrigues him as no woman has in years—more so when he sees how determined she is to avoid him.

Emily is timid, insecure, and introspective—and she has her reasons. She’s read about Quinn Ramsay, the brilliant and handsome celebrity entrepreneur with the Midas touch, and she’s seen pictures of him in the tabloids, always with a beautiful model or actress on his arm. She knows he walks red carpets with the same ease that he hosts charity sporting events and fund raisers. His glittering California life is the polar opposite to her quiet, safe, and reclusive life on Salt Spring Island. And when he starts to show an interest in her, her initial reactions are disbelief, fear—and panic attacks. None of which she can control.

All of which makes Quinn more interested than ever.

Sojourn With a Stranger by Keta Diablo

Look what we found! A Kindle Romance Novel for under $3!

Penniless when she arrives in Norfolk, her mother and father drowned at sea, Raine Brinsley longs to return home to her grandfather in Maine. When Derek Stafford, owner of an affluent manor, offers a solution to her dilemma, Raine is stunned. And outraged. She agrees to fulfill the contract to bear his child, and vows to dispel every memory of the cad from her mind. Will her traitorous heart listen?

Derek’s only goal in life is to father an heir for Stafford House to secure his future. But the exquisite Scottish lass arrives at the manor and interferes with his best-laid plans, and his heart. After one night in her arms, guilt, and the loss of his soul become his penance. He’ll do anything to win her love, anything to quench his tormenting hunger.

“I applauded Raine for her strength in the face of her parents’ deaths, especially during a time where women were seen as needing constant protection. Her determination not to accept Derek’s charity was admirable, as was her willingness to tackle any job assigned. Although a strong woman, her gentleness is demonstrated in her concern for the spirit and her attempts to understand its message. This story has everything and then some – romance, birth, death, voodoo, adventure, psychic ability, and a touch of Civil War – and I could not put it down. Keta Diablo has once again done a wonderful job of involving the reader in the lives of her characters, and I highly recommend this book.” Five Stars, Goodreads Reader

“This is a wonderful paranormal romance, which quickly picked up speed as the story progressed. The spiritual undercurrents in the novel are interwoven into the plot with the skill of a great author. Will Lucinda find her revenge? Will the young lovers be reunited in triumph and love? Ah, but what kind of Scot would I be if I told ye the end afore ye gazed upon the first page? We Scots are rather in tune with the paranormal anyway. I enjoyed reading Sojourn by Ms. Diablo. I was hooked the moment I saw the cover, but you got me by the second page. Well done!” Book Marketing Network, Five Stars

“Both hero and heroine had some issues they had to overcome, but I felt more for Derek. He was the one who truly overcame his personal challenges to become a better person. As a groveler, he gets an above average mark. His angst made my day. That added to the intricate plot the author designed and the crooked path to happiness Raine and Derek must travel made this a much enjoyed read.” Night Owl Reviews. Four Stars

Frail Blood by Jo Robertson

Look what we found! A Kindle Romance Novel for under $3!

"Frail Blood" is an historical romantic thriller.

California, 1909. A woman straps a pistol to her ankle, walks to her lover’s home, and shoots him. Her motive? After an affair of four months, he jilted her for another woman.

How would an attorney defend the woman in light of her outright confession? Would an all-male jury view her actions with repulsion or pity?

The climate of California in the early twentieth century when women couldn’t vote and men held the real power, where immense wealth rested alongside poverty, held a paradox of contradictions.

The bare bones of this true California court case sparked the idea for the fictional story of Alma Bentley, attorney Malachi Rivers, and Emma Knight, the woman who helps him investigate the case.

When jaded lawyer Malachi Rivers engages newspaper editor Emma Knight to aid him in the case of Alma Bentley, he has no idea they'll eventually unmask a vile web of family deceit, wickedness, and treachery. Constantly putting herself in harm's way, the feckless Emma uncovers dark secrets that lie behind the wealthy facade of the Joseph Machado clan.

With her strong opinions, Emma tests Malachi's patience even while he's strongly attracted to her. She disagrees with every aspect of his trial strategy, but he defends his client the only way he can – by insisting that a woman, a naturally frail creature, is incapable of committing such a heinous crime.

Emma wants to experience true passion and detests the false notion that women are inferior to men in any way. Even while she confronts Malachi at every turn, she falls ridiculously in love with him.

Readers of historical fiction and mystery/suspense, as well as historical romance, will enjoy the elements at play in this slice of life, fictionalized story of California.
